The Print
That observation is what started VAYOMEIE. Not a gap in the market — a gap in the craft. The tradition was alive. The patterns had stopped evolving. Anusha decided to make new ones.
Kalamkari is one of India's oldest print traditions. Block and screen, natural dyes, cotton. The craft is well documented. The motifs have been reproduced thousands of times. What was missing was original work — prints designed today, in the spirit of the tradition, that did not exist before.
Every VAYOMEIE print is designed in-house. Each one begins as an original drawing, not an adaptation of something already in circulation. The motifs are Kalamkari-inspired — rooted in the visual language of Andhra Pradesh, the flora, geometry, and line quality of the tradition — but they are new. That is the point.
How the prints are made
Every motif starts as an original drawing. No licensed patterns, no reworked stock imagery. The design process is internal — Anusha reviews and approves each print before it goes to production.
Prints are applied to prepared fabric by hand — block printing for motifs that benefit from the slight variation of hand pressure; screen printing for cleaner, finer detail. Both are traditional methods.
Indigo, pomegranate rind, madder root, iron water. The colour palette is defined by what nature produces. No synthetic dyes.

Made to last.
The print is the starting point. The fabric preparation is what makes it stay.
